Ok People here’s the deal

Yesterdays meetings were addressing the lack actual help getting to all the communities in the effected areas efficiently and bypassing the NGO’s who have dug in, come and gone leaving in their wake a false sense to outsiders that everything is resolved.

It’s not.

The major issues

A.) It’s cold and getting colder

B.) There’s mold and getting Molder

C.) Food still remains a problem for many

D.) Utilities are being restored but SLOWLY! Rapid response translates to those who haven’t been seen yet are about 11 days out for assessment to even happen.

In lieu of the cold weather upon us and in the interest of time to get clothing to people ASAP!!! I am going to focus all of my efforts and operate under the umbrella of
“Health Initiative Foundation Inc.”
The H.I.F.I is 5013C established in 1995.

It was founded by: Michael McDonald DR of Public Health, Executive Director

C. Everett Koop, former Surgeon General of the US Air Force

Lieutenant General Alexander Sloan

David Taylor, former COO of the Howard Hughes Foundation

HIFI address a multitude of aspects in disaster situations to assist in restoration of community while promoting resilience and sustainability as they transition out.

MY ONLY FOCUS!!!

Clothing and blankets! Jackets, Long Underwear, Sleeping bags. After that Warm clothes, Hat’s winter shirts, pant new socks etc...

There is a direct link for cash donations to go through to have your donations go directly to this cause, Clothing to keep people from freezing to death. Just specify your intention along with that donation. This deduction is applicable to your 2012 taxes so...

Though there are many other needs to be filled there is a reason to put this one in the foreground, it is all ready cold enough for people with compromised living arrangements to freeze to death. There are many other operations people can go to and have those other needs met. This need is severely lacking and why I am giving all of my time to this cause. There are people in place to MY ONLY FOCUS!!!

Clothing and blankets! Jackets, Long Underwear, Sleeping bags. After that Warm clothes, Hat’s winter shirts, pant new socks etc... this going and spread the burden of this monumental task out in a sustainable way so as not to tax any one persons life beyond it’s limit. It is a growing community effort of volunteers. However there are fundamental needs to get it all underway NOW!

NEEDED NOW: Tax deductible donations!!! Receipt available through HIFI

Operation Plan through the winter (5 months)

Tents to operate out of 10 tents @$3K/tent/month $150K

Heating units and generators 5 units @ $2k/month $ 10k

Fuel for heat and vehicles to dispense goods $ 20k

Vehicles to move good to distribution tents $ 50k

Sorting tables {plywood on scaffolding) $ 40k

Lighting $ 10k

$280k

There’s other expenses as well but that’ll get us started. I simply don’t have time today to build a spread sheet. You get the picture. More than anything else we need to create an environment that is Loving and nurtures the needs of both the people we are helping and the volunteers on the ground.

I know there is way more than one person in our community that could easily write a check to cover everything and we’d be on our way but I don’t feel that that would be right or that that is what this is about.

I propose the members of EEC, everyone of us donate $100/person as dues of to get this underway NOW before more people die. We have 3,300 members, that could give us a starting budget of $330. WE can rename it...East End Really Cares...A Lot!!! ? E.E.R.C.A.L. a little nerdy & a bit too windy : ) you get it though. We need to put our money were our opinions are, collectively and not wait for a select few to do for us and ride the wave. I mean no disrespect to those who have given so much all ready but it’s so not over.

There needs to be and will be a ledger of accountability for all expenses incurred. there are so many ways ALL of us can help. I shouldn’t even be writing this out when there are so many on the ground logistics to be covered not the least of which is locations to operate from.

In lieu of that I have a conference call to make right now with board of HIFI and will touch back in later today to see what you all think. Thank you all for you continued support and for your consideration on these issues and how we can all pool our resources to help

Thanks again

Steve
