Thanksgiving Day 2012
Driving back to my home that I left over three weeks ago, I pass trees and familiar landscapes that I have seen a thousand times, and see them today like I have seen them for the first time. I almost stop and stare like I'm on vacation in a brand new country.
I know exactly why this is and it's the reason why I'm locking the house up tighter, turning off the water, and putting a hold on the mail.
What's going on in Rockaway, and the surrounding areas to the mostly poor, and elderly who have little means to remove themselves from a situation that approaches a National Shame and is possibly just around the corner from full blown health crisis, makes me sad and angry.
In this great country where we have the means to make great achievements rather quickly, we are quickly falling far behind in a race against the clock.
I can only imagine how much worse it would be in these areas were it not for thousands of volunteers who have stepped up to the plate, many putting their health and safety at risk on a daily basis.
What more do the govt. agencies whose employees are housed in heated mobile homes, in protected parking lots need to see to do something?
Before it's too late...........

howdy folks
