35-mile-long rainbow laser pays tribute to NY Sandy victims
14 hrs ago
It's been almost a month since hurricane Sandy brought chaos and destruction to the East Coast, and people are still recovering from the epic storm. As a memorial to those who died and as a sign of hope to those still rebuilding, artist Yvette Mattern has created a powerful laser that projects a rainbow more than 35 miles. The project, called Global Rainbow After the Storm, is seated atop the Standard Hotel in Manhattan and projects south toward Brooklyn and eventually out to sea. Mattern said she hopes the sight "will provide people with a sense of peace and security in this time of crisis." [Source]
