(New York, NY) March 1st 2013. On Wednesday March 6th 2013, SISFI is hosting the 1st of a 4 part series “Yes to Life, No to Suicide” Awareness and Solutions Conference at Fordham University Law School, McNally Auditorium, 140 W 62nd St, New York, NY 10023. The theme of the conference is “Facing Today’s Challenges Effectively For A Better Life Tomorrow." The focus of the conference will be addressing the true state of mental health and suicide in our society today, highlighting the ways people are suffering in silence and expressing and attempting suicide ideations, the increase in social media usage for suicide ideations and the programs, services and resources available across the state to address and prevent the completion of suicide.

I am very deeply concerned about the drastic increase in the use of social media and technology as an outcry resource for help and expressing the suffering in silence being seen, heard and felt by many people today, especially from our youth. The ways in which people are hiding and reaching out from behind the comfort of a virtual presence and platform is frightening as we cannot see the physical being or the expressions of hurt, anger and pain they are feeling, but we hear and understand the human suffering loud and clear in their virtual outcries. This is a dire crisis that we are not paying close enough attention to as a society while it grows and festers more and deeper in so many ways and lives. We must include online, social network monitoring and presence (not just information) in organizations that provide human services and support, states Mr. Brett A. Scudder, president, chairman and Chief Happiness Officer “CHO” of SISFI.

Mental Health Professionals, Advocates and Providers, Life and Health Coaches, Youth Serving Providers, Educators, Caregivers, Social Workers, Legislators, Law Enforcement, Community Advocates/Activists, Community Centers and anyone who works with people and human challenges are invited to attend and learn more on the issues and solutions.

We must not wait for people to come forward to talk about their abuse, suicide ideations, mental health challenges and illnesses, because we know our society is hurting from many angles and on many levels every day with the growing concerns for the global economic meltdown that is rippling through every area of our lives at home, work and in our communities. We must bring the dialog to the general public by providing effective awareness, understanding, programs, support and resources on the ground in communities. We must keep the topics on the forefront of the state of affairs of our society so people can know and understand that just like the common cold, you can have the signs and symptoms of stress, depression, anxiety and help and support is available now. We must not wait for the negative impacts of life challenges and changes to get deeper into people’s minds for them to become a long-term mental stressors pushing them over the edge and doing things they find out of desperation to survive. Let's get the word out so it resonates in our minds that we are all human and are in need of Love, understanding, empathy, support and happiness because some of us have forgotten and crimes, violence, senseless killings and the raping of people (youth and adults) increases, states Mr. Scudder.

SISFI will be hosting 4 “Yes to Life, No to Suicide” Awareness Conference in 2013, one per quarter at different locations across New York State as the issues of human suffering increases and more people are suffering in silence, fear and pain. The conferences will provide real world data on what is being seen and heard across the board in the various participating agencies and organizations.

I would like to say a very special thank you to the organizations and people who are participating in the conference for their support of our efforts to bring more public awareness, support and resources on the ground in our communities for the issues of mental health and suicide. It is very important that we work with all agencies that have access to programs and resources that we can leverage in the saving of lives across the board, states Mr. Scudder.

SISFI host these public awareness events and online radio shows to help bring more awareness and understanding of the issues because we deal with them on so many levels in our Abuse and Suicide First Aid Response and Wellness Centers “AFARWC”, but our society still considers it a taboo topic for behind closed doors. SISFI’s Abuse Behavioral Investigations Team “ABIT” is always investigating and researching on cases and impacts of abuse and life challenges to better understand the mindset and challenges in order to help facilitate quality events, reports, reviews and awareness for our society on abuse across the board.

SISFI extends a very special thank you to Fordham University’s Black Social Work Student Association and Continuing Education for cosponsoring the conference with us. We look forward to networking and collaborating with you again as we address these human issues.

On Wednesday March 13th at 1pm EST, SISFI hosts our Virtual Sexual Abuse Awareness and Solutions Summit, theme: "The Loved and Trusted Threats", on SISFI Radio to highlight the growing challenges of child sexual abuse and the real threats, risks and impacts on people and society. Our guest speakers are nationally acclaimed sexually abused advocates who have been relentlessly bringing the issues to the forefront as their experiences activated them as public speakers and advocates to put an end to the wicked acts of Child Abuse. The event will be broadcasted to an international audience due to the impacts of the issues and outreach we have been receiving from other countries on the issues. The press release and info is forthcoming.
